The coffee pot that led to the creation of the first webcam. The coffee pot was in the Trojan Room at computer lab at Cambridge Univ. and the folks there rigged up the webcam to display the state of the coffee pot on the desktops of users in other parts of the building so they could avoid making pointless trips to the coffee machine.
