This incident happened after the Germany vs Argentina quarterfinal match of the 2006 World Cup, which Germans won 4-2 on penalties. After the match, a brawl started between players of the 2 countries and Leandro Cufre of Arg(the kicker) kicked Per Mertesacker of Ger many times in his groin. Mertesacker had to undergo surgery on his balls!!! As a result of this attack, Cufre who was an unused sub in the match was red carded, and became the first player to be sent off after a match had ended.
